Donations to the Bath Half Marathon Fund
162 local community projects and 102 local community groups funded by runners’ donations since 2003
What happens to the money our runners donate when they enter the Vitality Bath Half?
Over the last fourteen years our runners have been quietly making a difference to the lives of people living in Bath & North East Somerset by making a voluntary donation to the Bath Half Marathon Fund when they enter the race.
The relative affluence of Bath conceals pockets of severe deprivation & rural isolation, comparable with some of the most deprived areas in the UK. The invaluable work of the smaller charities and voluntary groups in addressing these issues often goes unrecognised.
These groups often don’t have the resources to publicise their work, or take part and benefit from a large charity event like ours. The Bath Half Marathon Fund helps us address this by providing cash grants to local community projects funded by the generosity of our Vitality BATHALF runners.
Established in 2003, the Bath Half Marathon Fund, which is administered by the Quartet Community Foundation, has made a real and valuable impact providing £180,000 in grants for local sport, play and active lifestyle projects. On behalf of the people from these local charities and voluntary groups, we want to say a huge and heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who has donated to the fund.
Grant application details for the 2017 race will be announced in the Summer.
Also using government match funding, through Quartet Community Foundation, we have also created an endowment fund of £160,000 to provide a permanent source of future funding for local community groups.
Find us on Neighbourly – details of our grants will also be advertised on neighbourly.com
