African Intiatives

African Initiatives is a Bristol based international development charity. Established in 1997, we support rights-based projects in Africa such as girls’ education, women’s rights, sustainable livelihoods and health rights. We have grown in strength over the years and now have well established and successful relationships with a range of different partner organisations in Ghana and Tanzania. We work through local organisations to reach the most marginalised and disadvantaged members of communities. These are often women, girls, young people, members of minority ethnic groups and the disabled.

We empower communities and individuals to change attitudes, which in turn changes behaviour, which influences policy and leads to positive practices. This results in communities in which everyone has their voice heard and is able to challenge injustice and exercise their rights, so allowing people to attain an improved quality of life and better futures.
