Mental Illness affects 1 in 4 people and is something that can devastate lives.

Rethink Mental Illness is there for people that are severely affected by mental illness, helping them to live a better life. We do this in a number of different ways, including but not limited to…

Providing over 200 services across England supporting approximately 60,000 people.

We provide commissioned services such as housing, floating support, crisis accommodation, advice, residential care, IAPT, advocacy, carers support, employment and criminal justice. We also support 130 local volunteer run support groups for people affected by mental illness. Our Advice and Information Service and emotional support helplines provide support to millions.

At a national level, we campaign for policy change and to reduce the stigma and discrimination around mental illness. We conduct social research into people’s experiences of mental illness and we run the national campaign Time to Change with Mind. Since its launch in 2007, it has improved 3.5 million peoples’ attitudes to mental health.

Innovating and finding new ways to help people severely affected by mental illness.

Our Innovation Network is a unique network of 11 NHS Trusts, the Priory Group and ourselves. Our Recovery and Outcomes work is the only existing engagement mechanism for people with the experience of being within a secure care setting.

Ensuring everything we do has input from our beneficiaries.

All our work is governed by people who have lived experience of mental illness and covers every county in England, giving us local insight and helping us spread innovations nationally. Our co-production and involvement expertise mean we model good practice in equipping people severely affected by mental illness and their carers to be leaders in their own care.
