BATH & DISTRICT SAMARITANS

People struggling to cope contact us every few minutes in Bath…

Bath & District Samaritans is made up of over 100 trained volunteers, who last year dealt with over 45,000 contacts from people wanting to talk. Over 17,500 of these callers expressed suicidal feelings, and 131 were in the process of attempting to complete suicide.

As well as our Helpline service, Bath & District Samaritans also:

– attend the RUH in Bath weekly, to provide support for patients, family members and staff
– work closely with Network Rail, supporting local station staff to reduce suicides on railways in and around Bath
– visit Schools and Colleges across our area to talk about our work and how we can help
– visit Leyhill Open Prison weekly to support prisoners who we have trained to provide a listening service for fellow inmates
– If you would like to do more to support our work you can come along to one of our information evenings and find out about volunteering with us. There are lots of ways to help and we always welcome new potential Samaritans from all walks of life.
– Or perhaps you are part of an organisation which would like us to visit and tell you about Samaritans and what we do. Contact us – we’re always happy to talk about Samaritans.
– Or you may like to make a donation to support our work in this area. We rely on the generosity of our donors to keep our phone lines open and our outreach programmes active.

Details on all the above can be found via our local website:
