ROAD CLOSURES, PARKING SUSPENSIONS & FOOTPATH CLOSURES

Details of the road closures, parking suspensions and footpath closures for the 2019 half marathon will be confirmed shortly.

General arrangements will be largely unchanged from previous years, as described in our 2018 Residents Leaflets.  For further information or specific enquiries about race weekend travel arrangements please use our CONTACT US enquiry form.

Unless otherwise stated all restrictions apply only to Sunday 17th March 2019

Scheduled Bus Services

There will be a number of changes and diversions to normal scheduled bus services on race day.  For full details of the amended services please visit the Travel West website – CLICK HERE

GENERAL INFORMATION :

Green Park and Kingsmead

We will returning to the original half marathon route this year using the new shared footpath/cyclepath along the former Green Park Road, following completion of the highways works around the Bath Quay development.  So this means we will not need to divert along the Ambury and Corn Street, or to close Avon Street car park or to put in place temporary traffic management in Kingsmead Square, as we did in 2017.

Widcombe Parade

Between 09.45 and 15.30hrs approx, whilst the course route road closures are in place, the traffic flow on Widcombe Parade will be reversed to allow all north westbound traffic (coming towards Widcombe) down Prior Park Road and down Widcombe Hill to be diverted westbound along Widcombe Parade, along Claverton Street, and southbound up Wells Road out of the city.  Parking will also be suspended on Widcombe Parade between 06.00 and 15.30hrs approx to allow temporary stops for local bus services and to ensure no contra-traffic.

Footpath Closures

In recent years we have had to implement footpath closures at narrower sections of the course where runners spill onto the pavement, and to avoid crowd congestion in streets adjacent to the start and finish in Great Pulteney Street.  Details of these closures are included on the respective residents leaflets below.

This year we will be introducing an additional temporary footpath closure on Halfpenny footbridge and the adjacent section of footpath on Claverton Street from 10.45 to 11.30hrs approx to allow safe passage for the massed runners at the beginning of the race, following the narrowing of the carriageway at this point by the recent highways alterations.

Lansdown Road parking restrictions

At the request of First Group additional parking suspensions will apply on single yellow line sections on Lansdown Road adjacent to Julian Road from 06.00 to 15.30hrs to maintain access for park and ride buses, following the recent alterations and narrowing of the carriageway.

Otherwise arrangements for the 2019 Bath Half Marathon are unchanged from recent years.
