Vitality Bath Half Runners raise £201,000 for Macmillan
June 23, 2016 // Rachel Ellis
Scores of runners across the South West descended upon Bath back in March to run the Vitality Bath Half Marathon for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Around 1600 turned out to take on the 13.1 miles in support of Macmillan, they joined around 15,000 who took on the challenge through the streets of Bath.
Macmillan’s Regional Challenge Manager, Kayley Waller said: “It was such a fantastic day and amazing to see a sea of Macmillan Green crossing the start line”
“To have a charity team making up over 10% of the entrants is unheard of and we are so grateful to everyone that took part for really getting behind the cause and holding Macmillan in their hearts”.
“We also want to extend a huge thank you to Running High Events for organising another seamless event, in particular to Mel & Andrew Taylor, for having us as the lead charity for the race”
“We want to make sure no one has to face cancer alone but we can’t do it without the amazing people who fundraise for us.”
Mel Taylor, Charity Director for Vitality Bath Half Marathon commented “We have been overwhelmed by the achievement of over 1600 Macmillan runners who ran the Vitality Bath Half Marathon this year. This is an amazing effort by all and £201,000 is a huge fundraising figure to reach. Well done to everyone involved and we look forward to welcoming Macmillan runners back again in March 2017”.
All the money raised from the Vitality Bath Half Marathon will be used to fund Macmillan’s vital cancer services, from specialist nurses and doctors, to help and advice for people who have financial problems as a result of their cancer.
