Set up by the local community in the early 1990s, Bath City Farm is located on a beautiful 37-acre plot in the middle of Bath’s three most deprived wards – Twerton, Whiteway and Southdown – the Farm is an important asset within the local community, acting as a place of engagement and learning, in a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.
Central to the charity’s work are a range of practical courses, training and volunteering opportunities for the local community; providing practical and life skills to children at risk of exclusion from mainstream education, the long-term unemployed, people who are experiencing mental health issues and people with learning difficulties. We also run a wide range of free events for the local community.
The Farm is free-of-charge for anyone to visit, and its range of animals – which include Dexter cattle, a mixed flock of free-range chickens, pygmy goats and a pair of miniature Shetland ponies – prove to be a popular attraction with people of all ages and backgrounds.
The organisation’s mission is to build a caring, healthy and cohesive community through the involvement of local residents, especially those who are disadvantaged. By supporting the Farm you will help us achieve our aims to:
– Build a cohesive community
– Achieve improvements in people’s lives
– Steward the farm’s resources
– Increasing skills and knowledge
– Connect people to the land
