Making a Difference in the Heart of Bath

£500,298 TOTAL FUNDS RAISED / 17 years of grant making / £231,067 distributed in cash grants / 194 local community projects funded / Delivered by 109 local community groups

The Bath Half Marathon Fund relies on the generosity of runners making donations when they register to enter our event.  These donations are passed to Quartet Community Foundation who manage the gift aid recovery, and the funds are distributed each year in grants for sport and exercise projects delivered by smaller local charities and voluntary groups within Bath & North East Somerset.  Besides representing a source of funding, these grants also provide a valuable recognition and endorsement for smaller charities and groups working to overcome deprivation and isolation.  In addition to these community grants, each year the Bath Half Marathon also pays for services delivered by 850 volunteers working for 10-12 local voluntary groups. Collectively these grants represent a unique legacy created by thousands of BATHALF entrants as a ‘Thank You’ to the City of Bath for hosting our event.

What happens to the money our runners donate when they enter the Bath Half ?

Over the last seventeen years our runners have been quietly making a difference to the lives of people living in Bath & North East Somerset by making a voluntary donation to the Bath Half Marathon Fund when they enter the race.

The relative affluence of Bath conceals pockets of severe deprivation & rural isolation, comparable with some of the most deprived areas in the UK. The invaluable work of the smaller charities and voluntary groups in addressing these issues often goes unrecognised.

These groups often don’t have the resources to publicise their work, or take part and benefit from a large charity event like ours. The Bath Half Marathon Fund helps us address this by providing cash grants to local community projects funded by the generosity of our BATHALF runners.

Established in 2003, the Bath Half Marathon Fund, which is administered by the Quartet Community Foundation, has raised the grand total of £500,298.

These funds have made a real and valuable impact providing £231,067 in cash grants for local sport, play and active lifestyle projects. On behalf of the clients of these local charities and voluntary groups, we want to say a huge and heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who has donated to the fund over the last 17 years.

Also using government match funding, through Quartet Community Foundation, we have also created an additional endowment fund of £269,231 to provide a permanent source of future funding for local community groups within Bath & North East Somerset.
