Talan’s Trust was set up in 2017 in memory of Bude boy, Talan Penny aged just 19, who died from a childhood cancer, Rhabdomyosarcoma.
Childhood cancer remains the biggest killer of children bar trauma in the U.K. Talan’s Trust are committed to raising funds and with help from the Royal Marsden find kinder more effective treatments for children facing this disease.
Childhood cancer affects children from 0 to 25 and at Talan’s Trust we are committed to raising awareness typically around children in the 18 to 25 age group.
Talan’s Trust continue to raise the profile of childhood cancer by sharing the signs and symptoms in as many ways as possible, namely with schools, parents and caregivers. Long term survival is dependant on early diagnosis and all too often children are stage 4 on referral from GP.
We raise funds by holding various fundraisers around the year, our run in November, the Tal19 a 19km and 10km multi terrain race featuring Talan’s favourite places being the highlight of our calendar year.
