Bath Gateway Out & About
Bath Gateway Out & About brings together businesses, community groups and residents to enable adults with learning difficulties, some of whom also have physical disabilities, to enjoy greater independence and an improved quality of life.
Weekly club nights are at the heart of what Bath Gateway Out & About offers to its members. They currently run two club nights on a Monday and Wednesday but with a growing waiting list, currently at 19, of people hoping for membership they are seeking funding to deliver a third club night.
The club nights provide social and leisure activities in a community setting for individuals 18 years and over who either have a learning disability, are disabled, or both. The activities enable members to take part in a range of age appropriate experiences helping them with their life skills, raising their self-esteem, building their confidence and developing their friendships.
Generally, the club members live a sedentary lifestyle so it is critical that Bath Gateway Out & About take the opportunity to get members moving during club nights. A grant of £500 has been awarded to help towards staff costs which will allow more physical activities to be introduced into club nights.
