Southside Family Project
Southside aims to help families thrive and enjoy the safety, experiences and opportunities they deserve by ensuring that children, young people and adults with multiple and complex difficulties in Bath and North East Somerset can access the care and support they need.
Southside works with people whose lives have been damaged by violence, abuse and neglect. Many of the families we support have complex needs and live in the hidden pockets of deprivation where child poverty, domestic abuse, mental ill-health, substance misuse, social isolation, homelessness and debt are key challenges.
A grant of £500 has been awarded to fund 50 pedometers for Southside’s One Million Steps Challenge, part of the Lifestyle Change Project.
Southside will run weekly sessions for disadvantaged families in Keynsham for fifteen weeks (Autumn Term), including cooking and healthy eating activities, focused on food children enjoy with the opportunity to make themselves from scratch. As physical activity is essential for good health, we’ll encourage families to develop more active lifestyles through walking: taking steps each day towards the ultimate goal of one million steps in fifteen weeks.
