Corporate Challenge Newsletter

Hello and welcome to the first edition of our BATHALF 2014 Corporate Challenge newsletter for business teams. Congratulations on securing your place, we’re delighted that you’ll be joining us on 2nd March

This monthly newsletter is specifically for Corporate Challenge runners taking part in our 2014 Bath Half and will contain news and information that will help you prepare for the race as well as important information about the big day.

General public entries to the Bath Half are now sold out. There are still a handful of Corporate Challenge entries left – but these are selling fast – so if your colleagues are still hoping to take part then please encourage them to sign up quickly.

As we creep nearer to January we are preparing to send out over 15,000 race packs to our runners. It’s a mammoth task and it helps us greatly if you can read the information below about updating personal details and entry refunds – the deadline for this is 26th December 2013.

You can keep up to date with preparations and the latest BATHALF chatter on Facebook and Twitter. We love to hear from our runners about how you’re getting on with your preparations for the big day.

We hope you all have a great time over Christmas and New Year – and manage to squeeze some training in between the parties and the presents!

Bath Half Marathon 2013 26th December deadline – update your personal details

If you’ve moved house since you registered your race entry you’ll need to either notify us of your new address or to make arrangements for your post to be diverted or collected from your old address. To notify us of your change of postal address, maiden name, email address, estimated finishing time or club details please use our on-line enquiry form. If you notify us of your change of address before we start to process our race pack mail out on 26th December, we will arrange for your race pack to be sent to your new address. Likewise, if you notify us of change in estimated finish time before we allocate race numbers on 26th December, we can change your start bay without charge.  After this date the issuing of replacement race packs or changes to start bays will incur charges.

26th December deadline – entry refunds

We offer a refund of £10 (or a £10 credit towards an entry for the 2015 Bath Half) to applicants who cancel their half marathon entry before the 26th December 2013 when we start to process our race pack mail-out. If you cancel your entry after 26th December we can offer you a guaranteed place in the 2015 race (you still have to pay the discounted on-line entry fee) if you notify us of your withdrawal and return your race pack (including your timing chip) to us before race day. Race entries are personally registered to the entrant and cannot be transferred to another runner. We cannot offer refunds for Family Fun Run entries. Cancellation & refund requests must be made using our on-line cancellation notification form.

Corporate Challenge Fundraising Commitment

Each Corporate Challenge entrant undertakes to fundraise a minimum sum of £200 for a charity of their own choice and to provide details of their fundraising on request to their team captain after the event. If you haven’t already selected your chosen charity, please consider fundraising for our lead charity – Coppafeel, or for one of our other official race charities.

In the last 13 years, the Bath Half has raised more than £14million for charity. Last year alone our runners raised a staggering £2million. We’re hoping our 2014 runners will rise to the challenge once again, supporting some of the amazing official race charities including our 2014 lead charity Coppafeel.

2013 photo - Family Fun Run family Family Fun Run

Entries to the Bath Half Family Fun Run are now open. The Family Fun Run is open to entrants of all ages and abilities. It starts and finishes under the Half Marathon gantry in Great Pulteney Street, after the start of the half marathon. There is a free t-shirt for every entrant and medal and goody bag to all finishers. Our nominated family fun run charity for 2014 is Send A Cow.

Jantastic Jantastic 2014 - looking for some motivation?

Jantastic is a free running participation challenge developed by Marathon Talk and supported by England Athletics and adidas that is designed to give your running and fitness a boost in the spring.  Jantastic is suitable for all running ability levels and open to everyone. It’s all about setting yourself personal running targets during January, February and March to help stay on track with your New Year’s fitness, health and performance goals.   You can participate in Jantastic as an individual or as part of a team.

We’ve set a team up called ‘Bath Half 2014‘ and would love you to join us in completing Jantastic 2014. Sign up is open now. The challenge starts on Monday January 6th 2014.

Trainers Every pair of trainers tell a story

This year the Bath Magazine has teamed up with the Bath Half, and we have something special in mind…so we need your help…and your trainers!  On Tuesday 14 January we’d like runners to bring their along trainers to the Octagon, just off Milsom Street in Bath, between 10am and 11am. We need to borrow your trainers for a few hours for a massive photo that will feature in our February issue. Our website will also be filming the event, so you can come along and tell us your motivations for running the Bath Half. Please do spread the word – the more the merrier!
