Vitality Bath Half 2016 Corporate Challenge Newsletter
Hello and welcome to the first edition of our 2016 Vitality Bath Half Corporate Challenge newsletter for business teams. Congratulations on securing your place, we’re delighted that you’ll be joining us March 13th.
This monthly newsletter is specifically for Corporate Challenge runners taking part in our 2016 Bath Half and will contain news and information that will help you prepare for the race as well as important information about the big day.
General public entries to the Bath Half are now sold out. There are still a handful of Corporate Challenge entries left – but these are selling fast – so if your colleagues are still hoping to take part then please encourage them to sign up quickly.
As we creep nearer to January we are preparing to send out over 15,000 race packs to our runners. It’s a mammoth task and it helps us greatly if you can read the information below about updating personal details and entry refunds – the deadline for this is 26th December 2015.
You can keep up to date with preparations and the latest Bath Half chatter on Facebook and Twitter. We love to hear from our runners about how you’re getting on with your preparations for the big day.
We hope you all have a great time over Christmas and New Year – and manage to squeeze some training in between the parties and the presents!
All the best,
| || Training plans |
Martin Yelling is a former elite athlete and is the founder and co presenter of the UK’s number 1 running podcast ‘Marathon Talk’. His training plans for Bath Half runners are designed for beginner, improver and advanced runners, so we hope you will find something that suits the stage you are at in your half marathon journey. We’ve also been taking a look through our blog archive this week and found a great post by Martin about how you and your training can survive during the Christmas festivities.
| || Corporate Challenge Fundraising Commitment |
Each Corporate Challenge entrant has undertaken to fundraise a minimum sum of £175 for a charity of their own choice and to provide details of their fundraising on request to their team captain after the event. If you haven’t already selected your chosen charity, please consider fundraising for our lead charity – Macmillan Cancer Support, or for one of our other official race charities.
| || Can we raise even more money in 2016? |
Our Bath Half runners raised an unbelievable £2.1 million in 2015 – on average that equates to every charity runner raising £454 each! We’re hoping our 2016 runners will rise to the challenge once again, supporting our official race charities. You can read more about our race charities and get some great fundraising tips from our Charity & Creative Director, Mel Taylor on this week’s blog
| || If you've moved we need your new address |
If you’ve moved house since you registered your entry, 26th December is the closing date for notifying us of any change in your registered postal address for your race pack. Please notify us using our website contact form.
| || Involve the rest of the family in your Bath Half day |
Entries to our popular family fun run are now open. The Family Fun Run is open to entrants of all ages and abilities. It starts and finishes under the Half Marathon gantry in Great Pulteney Street, after the start of the half marathon. There is a free t-shirt for every entrant and a medal and goody bag to all finishers. Our official family fun run charity is the Bath Rugby Foundation
| || Running Groups and Clubs |
As the weeks start to tick by and race day approaches, joining a running group or club can really help keep you motivated and offer tips and knowledge as you prepare for the Bath Half. We have put together a list of local groups and clubs in the Bath & Bristol area. If you want to let us know about other groups and clubs in your area then please get in touch via our Facebook and Twitter pages, and we can help spread the word about those too.
| || We've made the shortlist! |
Thank you to everyone who voted for the Vitality Bath Half Marathon in the 2016 Running Awards. We are delighted to have now made the shortlist in the half marathon category! If you voted to get the Bath Half onto the shortlist, you can vote again now in the second round to get your favourite half marathon onto the podium. Voting is open until 20 April.
| || Cancellation & Refund Policy |
We offer a partial refund of £10 (or a £10 credit towards an entry for the 2017 Vitality Bath Half) to half marathon applicants who cancel their entry before the date we start to process our race pack mail out on 26th December 2015. After 26th December 2015 we offer a guaranteed place in the 2017 half marathon (you still have to pay the discounted on-line entry fee) if you notify us of your withdrawal and return your race number and IPICO timing chip to us before race day. Half Marathon and Fun Run entries are personally registered to the entrant and cannot be transferred to another runner. Cancellation and refund requests must be made using our online cancellation form.
