Bath Half Family Fun Run Race Week Newsletter
Hello and welcome to our race week Bath Half Family Fun Run newsletter.
You should all now have your race packs, including your race day guide. If by any chance you haven’t received your race pack, please come to the information desk in the Runners’ Village on Saturday between 10am-4pm or on Sunday morning between 8am-10am. Saturday is always less busy!
We are now on site at the Runners’ Village as it’s being built around us and we are working hard to ensure our 11,000 half marathon runners and our 1,000 fun run runners have a fantastic race day. We’re really looking forward to seeing you all.
This year’s official Family Fun Run charity is Send A Cow. We have included some information below from this fantastic charity and also about our official Bath Half fundraising website virginmoneygiving.com which you can use for any last minute fundraising.
The latest race day news can be found on our website (there is also a mobile site for any of you using smart phones on the day – http://bathhalfmobile.co.uk). Any urgent announcements will be put on this site and also our Twitter and Facebook pages.
We hope you have a great day with us on Sunday and fingers crossed that the rain stays away!
All the best
Race Director, Bath Half Marathon
| || Message from Send A Cow |
‘Thank you so much for your support at the Family Fun Run. Send a Cow supports poor families in Africa providing the skills, knowledge and tools they need to leave poverty behind for good. From living in desperation every day, they are able to eat nutritious meals, families can afford to send their children to school and they can build a future full of hope.
By wearing our t-shirts, telling your friends about us or raising sponsorship, you help to make this possible.
But we don’t only change lives in Africa, our award winning educational work teaches children across the UK about Africa, poverty and where your food really comes from. Perhaps your local school would like a visit from one of our speakers?
Once again, thank you for your support. We couldn’t do any of this without you.’ More >
| || Raise more with Virgin Money Giving |
We’ve teamed up with virginmoneygiving.com to help you raise even more for charity. You can create a fundraising page and start collecting sponsorship in minutes. Virgin Money Giving doesn’t take a penny in profit so they can keep their charges really low.
You can create a Virgin Money Giving fundraising page, add your own personal touches and start collecting sponsorship in minutes. The page is then yours for life and can be used for the Bath Half Family Fun Run and every other charity event you take part in. More >
| || Travelling into Bath |
The disruption to transport in the South West has been well publicised in recent weeks and we have been liaising with First Great Western and the Council’s Park & Ride providers who are providing services on the day. We urge all runners and their supporters to check transport services with their provider before they travel. If you’re driving we suggest that you use Park & Ride, getting their early, and checking city centre car park locations in case Park and Ride is full when you arrive. For more information about travelling into Bath, please read this separate post More >
| || What happens on race day? |
The Family Fun Run starts after the start of the Half Marathon. All Family Fun Runners will need to assemble in Edward Street by 11am. You can see a map on the venue and Runners Village on our website.
You’ll be able to watch the Half Marathon start from here before being walked to the fun run start by marshals. You will run the first three quarters of a mile of the half marathon course down Pulteney Road as far as North Parade Road, before turning back and running back again. The fun run starts and finishes under the half marathon gantry on Great Pulteney Street.
Remember that Fun Run children under the age of 11 years must be accompanied by a responsible paying adult. Parents of unaccompanied older children must ensure their children are accompanied to the start area and met at the Fun Run exit in the Runners Village after they have collected their finishers medal. Please ensure an adult is there ready to meet them as they come out. Please check the race village map.
Children who miss their parents should look out for our ‘Fun Run Child Marshals’ in their light blue T-shirts at the finish, and we’ll hold unaccompanied children by the runners exit in the Runners Village until they are collected.
