Bath Half Family Fun Run Newsletter
Welcome to our Bath Half Family Fun Run newsletter,
It is now just over three weeks until race day and the family fun run is now SOLD OUT. We’re getting ready to mail out your fun run race packs – so they will be dropping through your letter box over the next two weeks.
Race packs will include a race day guide which will contain all the information needed for Race Day in a handy pocket size. The race pack will also include your race number and timing chip. Please could all runners check that the number on the timing chip matches that of the race number and the number printed on the front of the envelope? Please notify us if they do not match.
This year’s official Family Fun Run charity is Send A Cow. We have included some information below from this fantastic charity and also about our official Bath Half fundraising website virginmoneygiving.com
In 2014 we’re hoping to set a record for the amount of money that our runners raise. We’re hoping that we can raise more than £2million, and our family fun runners can help us do that. We’ve written a blog post recently to give you some tips on charity fundraising.
We’ll be in touch again just before race day!

We’re really pleased to see so many of you joining our herd and running and fundraising on behalf of Send a Cow. We are based in Bath and we’re moooved to be involved in our home-city race.
Your support is providing poor families in Africa with livestock, training and support which is lifting them out of poverty for good.
If you would like to support us and haven’t started fundraising yet, just email Aimi on firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01225 874222 to request a fundraising pack.
Alternatively get your school involved by asking for our free schools resources
We’d love to hear from our fundraisers who are running on the day so please let us have your photos and stories through our Facebook page
| || Fundraise with a Virgin Money Giving page |
We’ve teamed up with virginmoneygiving.com to help you raise even more for charity. You can create a fundraising page and start collecting sponsorship in minutes. Virgin Money Giving doesn’t take a penny in profit so they can keep their charges really low. That means charities will receive an extra £1 for every £30 donation compared to JustGiving. As they also collect Gift Aid for free, the cause you’re supporting could receive £36.46 in total for every £30 you’re sponsored.* More >
| || What happens on race day |
The Family Fun Run starts after the start of the Half Marathon. All Family Fun Runners will need to assemble in Edward Street at 11am. You will find a map in your race pack. You’ll be able to watch the Half Marathon start from here before being walked to the fun run start by marshals.
Remember that Fun Run children under the age of 11 years must be accompanied by a responsible paying adult. Parents of unaccompanied older children must ensure their children are accompanied to the start area and met at the Fun Run exit in the Runners Village after they have collected their goody bag. Please ensure an adult is there ready to meet them. Maps for this venue and route are in the race day guide
| || Travelling on race day |
The pocket sized Race Day Guide in your race pack contains important information about travelling into Bath on race day so do read through that when you race pack arrives. Make a plan now to take the stress out of your day. First Great Western usually put on more trains for race day, and we will give you more information about this when we have it. Park & Ride is also a good option for runners – services are offered on the day by Bath & North East Somerset Council and also Bath Racecourse. Please be warned that the more popular sites at Lansdown and Newbridge are often full by 8.30am on race day.
