Bath Half 2018 - latest news for all our entrants

Hello to all our 2018 entrants,

We’re pleased to report progress with our insurers and registration provider, and we can now confirm that refunds for 2018 entry fees should be cleared into entrants’ bank accounts on or before Friday 20 April. The refunds will be processed from our end a little earlier, but we have been advised to allow ten working days for banks to clear the payments. Again, we’d like to thank you for you patience while we’ve worked our way through this process which has been completely new to us!

We are also now in a position to confirm the date for next year’s race. The Bath Half 2019 will be held on Sunday 17th March 2019 and our early bird registration will open on Tuesday 3 April 2018.

We really didn’t want to get moving on entries for next year’s race until we had worked our way through the complicated world of insurance and refunds, but now we have that process all scheduled we can begin to get our heads into next year’s race!

In speaking to our race charities this week we’ve been very pleased to hear about the funds that their Bath Half runners have raised despite the race being cancelled. There’s more on that below but it looks like Bath Half 2018 is well on it’s way to raising £1.5million!

Bath Half 2018 raises £1.2million and rising!

As the largest fundraising event in the South West region, Bath Half runners contribute so much to local, regional and national causes. Since 2000 our runners have raised a staggering £25 million pounds. Cancelling the race this year was especially hard, knowing that the work of our charity partners would be affected.

Despite cancellation, our runners and the people who generously support them, have made sure that the race still makes it’s mark – the 2018 Bath Half had already raised just under £1.2 million pounds for charity through JustGiving alone, with funds continuing to flow to charities in the two weeks since cancellation.  We expect this figure to rise further in the weeks to come – we anticipate to around £1.5 million – as runners continue to complete their own half marathon challenges.

So please keep those funds flowing.

We’d like to say a very special thank you to those who have asked us to donate their entry fee to charity. This kind gesture has added over £12,000 for local charities and community groups through our Bath Half Community Fund grants programme.


Please post your timing chip

Finally, we are still in need of runners’ timing chips to be returned so if we can politely remind runners to please post them back to us that would be really helpful as we re-use these chips each year. Thank you to everyone who has done that already – we have had 7,500 returned now, but that means that over 50% are still out there.

Your chip was sent to you in a small pre-paid envelope addressed to SportSystems – so you can just pop that straight in the post, free of charge if the envelope is unopened. If you’ve already opened your envelope then please pop the chip into a fresh envelope with a stamp and post to:

If you haven’t yet opened your race pack, simply cross out your address , mark ‘Return to Sender’ on the front of the envelope and post your whole race pack back to us free of charge.
