2017 Vitality BATHALF Runners' Newsletter - November 2016
Hello and welcome to this month’s newsletter for all our 2017 Vitality Bath Halfer runners,
General public entries have now SOLD OUT. This is the the 18th consecutive year the BATHALF has sold out, so congratulations to everyone with registered entries. If you know a friend, family member or colleague who is thinking about entering, please let them know we have a few entries left in our Corporate Challenge for business teams, and our charity partners have reserved entries, although these are also selling fast.
With the recent stormy weather and clock change we’re pleased to see that the darker evenings, and accompanying colder weather, haven’t diminished the numbers of runners pounding the streets of Bath every evening! We’ve dug out our hi-viz gear and it’s great to see so many other runners doing the same.
As always at this time of year we ask our BATHALF runners to think about their safety and consider whether they are visible enough. It’s really important that drivers can see you – it could save your life. Wear reflective items on your arms and legs – moving parts are easier to see, and consider wearing a flashing light and a head torch.
We loved this picture of the John Moore Sports BATHALF training group looking very visible on a dark Thursday evening! Well done guys!

As the weeks start to tick by and race day approaches, joining a running group or club can really help keep you motivated and offer tips and knowledge as you prepare for the Bath Half. We have put together a list of local groups and clubs in the Bath & Bristol area. If you want to let us know about other groups and clubs in your area then please get in touch via our Facebook and Twitter pages, and we can help spread the word about those too.

Every year we feel overwhelmed and humbled by the fundraising efforts of our runners, who raise the second highest average amount per person for any road race in the UK (alongside the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon in London, and after the London Marathon). This is no mean feat in a city as small as Bath! If you are considering raising money for charity then you can see a list of our official race charities on our website. Involve the rest of the family in your BATHALF day by entering them into our popular Family Fun Run. The run, of approximately one kilometer (3/4 mile), is open to entrants of all ages and abilities and starts just after the half marathon start on Great Pulteney Street. There is a free T-shirt for every entrant and a medal and goody bag for all finishers. We are encouraging all participants in the 2017 Family Fun Run to fundraise for Cancer Research UK’s Kids & Teens campaign.

If your details have changed since you registered your race entry you’ll need to notify us of your change of postal address, maiden name, email address, estimated finishing time or club details using our new ‘manage my registration’ feature on our website
This new service enables our runners to amend contact details and predicted finishing times as well as cancelling or deferring their entry

You can now buy 2017 BATHALF merchandise online via our race website. Take a look at our selection of short and long sleeve t’-shirts, and for half marathon entrants to pre-order your iTab engraved insert for your finishers medal.

For applicants who cancel their half marathon entry before the 26th December 2016 (when we start to process our race pack mail-out) we offer a free carry forward entry to the 2018 race, a £15 refund or a £15 donation to the Bath Half Marathon Fund
If you cancel your entry after 26th December we can offer you a guaranteed place in the 2018 race (you still have to pay the discounted ‘early bird’ entry fee) if you notify us of your withdrawal and return your race pack (including your timing chip) to us before race day.
Race entries are personally registered to the entrant and cannot be transferred to another runner. We cannot offer refunds for Family Fun Run entries. Cancellation & refund requests must be made using our ‘manage my registration’ feature on our website
