Last week was the hardest week and toughest few days that we have ever had to face in unprecedented circumstances. We sought advice far and wide and decided to follow government and health advice to continue with the event. We know this polarised opinion, with many uncertain whether they should, or shouldn’t run and several coming out publicly either in favour, or against our decision to proceed. The decision received mixed views from our volunteers, suppliers, event charities and local Bath community, with many undecided as to what to do.

If you decided to run, we thank you for your understanding. You were one of almost 7,000 finishers, helped around the course by over 500 volunteers. Over 60% of those charities expected on race day came to cheer on their runners and we expect the event to generate a substantial amount of money for good causes – both locally and further afield. Those living in and around Bath also showed their support with large crowds cheering runners on across the whole course.

If you chose not to attend, we completely understand and respect your decision. Half of our entrants decided to do the same. Many of you have either done, or intend to run your own virtual half marathon. We are looking into our options to recognise your efforts, you can find more info on that below.

Whatever your decision was on the day, we thank you for entering this year’s event.

Virtual Bath Half

We are aware that some of our Bath Half entrants decided to self-isolate and not to attend yesterday’s event, and to run the half marathon distance virtually out of concern about the Coronavirus.

A few of you have asked if we could recognise your achievement by sending you a finisher medal and/or T-shirt.

This is something we would very much like to be able to do, providing we can find a practical and sensible way to achieve this. Read our full update here.

Battle of the Bands

We want to extend a HUGE thank you to the bands taking part in our Battle of the Bands competition on the route. They came out and performed in the pouring rain on Sunday and supported you all with their fantastic tunes. Please vote for your winner here. The winner will receive a £500 cash prize.

Finisher's Survey

Please take a moment to complete our Finishers Survey here. This is so important to us when planning future events. Everyone that does will enter a prize draw to win one of ten free entries to 2021’s Bath Half Marathon.

Survey closes on 17/04/2020 and winners will be contacted the following week.

2021 Bath Half Marathon

By tradition in past years, entries for next year’s Bath Half are launched the morning after this year’s race.

We have had many requests to sign up for 2021, however following public criticism of our decision not to cancel this year’s race we have decided to delay launch of 2021 entries for a few days.

We will announce arrangements for 2021 entries launch shortly.
