Virtual Bath Half - Update 19 March

We are delighted to confirm that we have been able to put arrangements in place for entrants who decided not to attend Sunday’s race out of concern about the Coronavirus to still complete the ‘Virtual Bath Half’ and to receive their official finisher medal and T-shirt.

With the support of our partners RealBuzz Group, tomorrow we will be launching a new registration platform allowing registered Bath Half entrants to sign up, with a month to complete the half marathon on a route of their own choosing, closing date 15th April 2020.  After uploading verification of their run, finishers will receive an official digital finishers medal and certificate, and shortly afterwards we will post them their actual finishers medal and T-shirt.

This offer is also open to runners who have already completed their ‘Virtual Bath Half’.

The Bath Half Marathon organisers are covering the costs of recovering and transporting the finisher medals and T-shirts from the finisher goody bags, registration fees on the RealBuzz Group ‘Virtual Bath Half’ platform, and packing medals and T-shirts to finishers. The only cost to runners will be the £2.90 cost of postage.

We fully appreciate public concerns about virus transmission and we respect individual runners’ decision not to attend Sunday’s race.  So we are delighted to be able to recognise their achievement in running the ‘Virtual Bath Half’.

Delivery timings will depend on availability of staff and resources.  Subject to availability, terms and conditions apply.

Virtual Bath Half - Initial Statement

We are aware that some of our Bath Half entrants decided to self-isolate and not to attend yesterday’s event, and to run the half marathon distance virtually out of concern about the Coronavirus.

We fully understand public concerns about virus transmission and equally we respect individual’s decision not to attend.

A few of you have asked if we could recognise your achievement by sending you a finisher medal and/or T-shirt.

This is something we would very much like to be able to do, providing we can find a practical and sensible way to achieve this.

As part of our event sustainability plan all surplus products from our event are donated to and recycled by charity. So the left over goody bags are already in transit destined for pre-planned destinations. We need to divert those goods and discuss alternative arrangements with our processors and charity and arrange for the finisher medals and/or T-shirts to be sent back to us. We also need to determine a practical and affordable way to identify runners in the ‘Virtual Bath Half’ and to send these items to you in as short a timescale as possible.

This task comes at a very busy time for our small team, in the immediate aftermath of the event, when our resources are already stretched and dedicated to the process of wrapping up the race and clearing the venue.

Please bear with us as we work out the logistics and practicalities of this exercise.

We hope to be able to announce a plan in the next couple of days.
