Bath Half Marathon Fund

MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN THE HEART OF BATH

Our Bath Half runners raise between £1.8 and £2.5 million pounds for charity each year. But before they even cross the start line, with the goal of completing 13.1 miles, many have already made a difference to the lives of people living in Bath & North East Somerset.

Since 2003 we have asked runners to consider making a small donation to the Bath Half Marathon Fund when they enter the race.

Over the last 19 years donations from our runners have raised £553,000 to support the work of 118 local community groups.

The relative affluence of Bath conceals pockets of severe deprivation, and rural isolation, comparable with some of the most deprived areas in the UK. The invaluable work of the smaller charities and voluntary groups in addressing these issues often goes unrecognised. These groups often don’t have the resources to publicise their work, or to manage a team of runners fundraising at our event. The Bath Half Marathon Fund helps us address this by providing cash grants to support their work.

Cash Grants

Over the last 19 years (through Quartet Community Foundation) the Bath Half Marathon Fund has distributed 227 cash grants totalling £274,000 for sport, active lifestyle and play projects in Bath & North East Somerset, representing a unique legacy created by thousands of Bath Half entrants – part of our way of saying ‘thank you’ to the City of Bath for hosting our event.

See list of Grants Awarded 2003-2022.

Endowment Fund

Also in addition to the cash grants, using government match funding (through Quartet Community Foundation) we have created an endowment fund with a current value of £279,000 to provide a permanent source of future funding for local community groups within Bath & North East Somerset.

Thanks to thousands of our runners for your generous donations

And thanks also to Quartet Community Foundation for managing gift aid recovery, our grants programme and our endowment fund
