Great Western Air Ambulance Charity
Run the Bath half marathon, save a life.
2019 is on track to be Great Western Air Ambulance Charity’s busiest year to date, attending 971 incidents in the first six months alone. What better way to show your support for your local air ambulance than running a great race to keep our life-saving service flying.
We are the busiest air ambulance service in the South West, serving a population of 2.1 million. Last year alone we were called out 1,887 times. 130 of these calls were within Bath and North East Somerset, that’s over 2 a week! Our Critical Care Team, consisting of Critical care Doctors and Specialist Paramedics are called to an average of over 5 incidents a day, from emergency blood transfusions to roadside amputations they bring the skill and equipment of the emergency room to where it is most needed, at the scene of the most seriously ill or injured patients.
By running the Bath Half, you aren’t just running 13.1 miles, you’re raising vital funds so that when someone is in a critical condition, we can be there and give them every possible chance of surviving.
We are a charity funded by donations from the public. We receive no day to day government or national lottery funding. We couldn’t keep flying without people like you and without the ongoing support of the people we serve.
Sign up to run and keep the service flying and we’ll support you every step of the way. Whether its tips for making the most of your fundraising or sharing advice on training you’ll be part of our ground crew and we’ll be there to help you reach the finish line and welcome you once you’ve crossed it with plentiful hugs from our mascot Charlie, the Critical Care Bear.
We’d really love for you to join our team and run to save a life in the 2019 Bath Half Marathon. If you have any questions or would like to find out more information please get in touch with our fundraising team on 0303 4444 999 or email us at [email protected]
