Stand Against Violence (SAV) was established in 2005 in response to the murder of
17-year-old Lloyd Fouracre, who was beaten to death by a group of drunken youths. The vision of the charity is a world free of violence. The core work of SAV is life skills training and social development, to help equip young people, aged from 8-25, with the skills they need to handle and avoid potentially violent situations. Specific topics include knife crime and weapons, gangs, grooming and county lines, and even life saving street first aid.
Independent evaluation of our work has shown that our workshops are “both relevant to, and effective at, improving young peoples’ knowledge and skills in conflict resolution and offers a promising violence prevention approach for young people.
Today, violence results in more than 1.5 million people being killed each year, and many more suffer non-fatal injuries and chronic, noninjury health consequences as a result of unnecessary violence and suicide (WHO 2024). By running for SAV, you’ll be helping us get in front of many more young people to help save lives and create safer communities for all. Secure a place in the 2025 Bath Half Marathon by joining SAV’s team. All you need to do is pay a registration fee and pledge to raise a minimum of £200.
We encourage our fundraisers to email any content (photos and videos) and their fundraising pages to [email protected], so we can post about your achievements and support, and give you the coverage you deserve!
